ACII!!! ...oh and some other unimportant things

Okay, boring stuff first. Exams are on this week, I have my final maths exam tomorrow. Then I'm done with high school maths, and I get a year off before doing (hopefully) Engineering at uni. Good stuff! Then of course there are other exams, but because they're not year 12 subjects they don't count for anything, other than requiring a pass.

EDIT: Okay, my maths methods calculator exam was the worst thing I have ever had the displeasure of sitting myself through. I am trying to draw comparisons here, but nothing is coming to mind. Fingers crossed that the rest of the state found it just as bad, so comparatively I did well.

Of course, in the past week, I've been procrastinating until the cows come home. It's been creatively great, as I've been drawing (okay mostly AC fanart but who cares anyway) AND writing (okay not proper prose but brainstorming but once again who cares), and managed to plough through all of Mass Effect and a quarter of Prince of Persia.
Also I'm not expecting great exam results on ANYTHING that isn't maths. Excellent!

In the meantime, whilst waiting for ACII and between sporadic attempts at study, I've been scouring the internet for whatever information there is to be had. Naturally, karma's a bitch, and I read a spoiler that I really didn't want to know. Its not THAT spoiler-y really, but I probably would have enjoyed the game more without knowing it. Since then I said I would hang back and not eat up anything I could find... and have been mostly unsuccessful. A part of me knows that if I take the next week off from anything ACII, I will appreciate finally receiving the game all the more. The much larger part of me hungers for the game so bad that I actually can't stop myself. Anyone else finding this is a problem?

(er, possible TECHNICAL SPOILER for ACII here. Not a plot spoiler though.)
...that said, I was reading Corey May's blog (scriptwriter for AC and ACII) and found out that we can switch the voice-over language to Italian, with English subtitles (actually I was just excited by the fact that there were subtitles. I hate missing dialogue, so I always turn subs on, and it was one of the main reasons I replayed AC). I don't know if we can do it just for when Des is in the Animus, or if we need 100% italianness. Still, it'll be pretty cool for a replay factor :P

Anyway, I'll see you all around the net. Unless I know you, in which case I'll see you around :)
[Yes, the primary purpose of this journal was to clear that meme off my mainpage. But hey, it may have been informative for you!]

See title, really.

Why did you join this site?:
I think I decided at some point in year 8 that I could be a good artist, and I'd already looked at stuff on DA for ages, and so started an account.

What does your username have to do with you?:
Er, Twirynienne Amoraelmah is the ridiculously long name of one of my OCs. I started out with twilight-mage, and I liked having the nickname Twi, so I just used Twiryn's name when I started the new account. Note: pronounced Tw-eye, NOT Tw-eeeee.

What is your current icon of?:
Some really old tegaki thing I did, back when Tegaki was still starting out and not too popular. Actually that was over a year ago now, I should make something new for it.

How many watchers do you have and how many people are you currently watching?:
14 watchers!!!! Woo. Just over half the amount of my old account! I watch 45 people on this account. There's another 50 back on twilight-mage i think?

Do you have more than one account?:
~twilight-mage is my old account. It was just gonna be fanart, but I ditched that when I ditched the otaku senshi community.

Name 3 of your favorite artists on DA.:
~bordon =ravenskar and *makani

What deviant do you admire because of their personality?:
I've only watch ~iously for a little bit, but she's been super friendly to me despite not knowing me at all... it's really nice :D

How many people on here do you actually know in reality? Post their avatars.:
:iconpyraflame: :icontearsofsouls: :iconsweet-destruction: :iconeveningsilence: :iconsphiranium-trin: and :iconinaridd: are all mysuper awesome best friends at school :)
:icondandrogynous: and :iconphoenixdoll: are both amazing friends from the YSA
:iconkunoichi-kyou: and :iconjoshbenjamin: are other students that I know from school and our brother school respectively

Do you comment, fave, or both?:
I usually just fave, if I have a particular opinion I comment, or if I think its particularly amazing I'll comment. I think getting a fav is just as complimentary as a nice comment, but hearing a person's view in their own words will feel more significant. Does that make any sense?

What do you typically post on deviantart?:
Fanart, whatever I've made on Tegaki recently, and VCE work. Once upon a time I did art of my OCs, and I still do, I just can never be bothered uploading it.... haha.

Do you participate in clubs or contests here on DA?:
Not clubs. I did a few contests back in the otaku senshi phase, but I got bored. Plus, time is more precious now.

What is your most popular deviation?:
Most faves is Rydia, most comments is Rezen in Black and White, and most viewed is my Saiben doll. Honestly, not what I expected.

What's your favorite submission in your favorites gallery?:
Right now? Hmmm..... "BITCH GOT STEAMPUNK n CANNON" by Ravenskar, its beautiful and awesome XD

What are the things you wish you could draw better?:
Men! Specifically, men with short hair and nice jaw lines! Also spaceships. DAMN I wanna draw spaceships well.

Are you a subscriber?:
Nope, free all the way!

How many hours a day do you spend on DA?:
Less than one, I log in, check updates, log out. A bit longer if I submit something.

Are you a fast, slow, or medium typer?:
Medium. I'm faster than most, but I've met a lot of people faster than me again. Also, when I type really fast I make lots of mistakes. I CAN touch type though.

What is your favorite emoticon?:
:sarcasm:

What is the most annoying thing people ask you?:
"What's the time?" FOR REAL. Everyone at school seems to think I know what the time is, and always ask me. And have asked me, for the past seven or so years. Despite the fact that until recently, I didn't wear a watch. Ever. Make sense of that.

What is the most annoying comment you get?:
People advertising their own galleries on my frontpage. It will make me avoid that artist, even if they are good.

What inspires you?:
It sounds silly, but video games. A lot. I love the detail that well-made games have put into them, and get inspired by elements of the story, cinematics, or art style. Also fiction. I love my fantasy fiction.

Do you use any traditional media?:
Pencils and paper all the way! I have trouble drawing new things with my tablet, so I sketch and scan. For my schoolwork, I use oil paints and dark room techniques for photography.

Do you associate people online with their icons?:
Initially I do, but after a month or so that stops.

Have you ever suggested a Daily Deviation?:
No. I think art is too subjective, and I need to know the person I'm recommending to before I will recommend. I don't know who'll see a DD, so I don't suggest it.

Everyone has considered leaving DA once or twice. Have you? Why?:
I never intentionally though "Maybe I'll leave DA". I just thought maybe I'll stop visiting for a while, and I leave my stuff where it is. Cos I eventually might become interested again, and old art eventually becomes a testament to current improvement.

Well that was fun for me. I love answering questions :D

Argh, I'm trying to study for my exams, but I'm getting distracted more than ever by video games, artwork and even writing. I'm more productive than ever in the non-school sense, but I have my final maths exams approaching and so this a bad thing. Just once I'd like to throw myself into my studies whole heartedly, rather than thinking about something else in the background.

....that said, 20 days until Assassin's Creed II, and I am more pumped than ever before :D

Spring holidays are here, and it's time to relax! School is mind-numbing and energy consuming, so a three week break should refresh me well for the final stretch. Maths practise exams are ready to be done, and a week in Queensland awaits :D

I've finally selected my subjects for my final year: English language, physics, psychology, art and history revolutions. I wanted to do history renaissance, but the school only offers one of the two each year, and I guess I got unlucky. Ah well, it should be a good year in any case - no maths! At the end of this year, I'm done with year 12 maths, and don't have to do a thing until university. Sweet as.

On a more artistic note, I'll be uploading more photography until the end of the year. I love some of the photos I've taken for my workbook, and so I think they deserve to be shown off here. I'm also DETERMINED to get some more digitally coloured works online. I've been disappointed in what I've made recently, but I need to keep trying. Practise, practise, practise, PRACTISE argh.

Manifest this year was freaking amazing, and I can't wait until next year. This time I WILL get a cosplay ready in time, and it will be absolutely awesome. Also, GenCon Australia is in Melbourne, so I can get a big D&D fix also. 2010 is looking to be awesome.

Also in 2010, I got accepted into the National Youth Science Forum. I won't elaborate beyond saying that it's really exclusive, has taken hard work to get into, and is sure to be an amazing two weeks in Perth surrounded with like minded students. A place where my extreme nerdiness and moderate geekiness is accepted and celebrated! Woo hoo!

So well, that's my three-quarter year report. Keep safe everyone!

Mid year update

Wow. People tell you that VCE is harder and more serious than the rest of high school, but what they DON'T tell you is about how tired you get. Actually, no they do. They just don't EMPHASISE it enough.

I've seriously found that this year - my second last of school - it has been sheer exhaustion that has caused me the most stress, compounded by the occasional Sudden Lack of Motivation. I have work that wouldn't normally trouble me that I am getting upset and frustrated with simply because I'm too tired to pay the amount of attention necessary, and I end up going "ARGH!" and handing it in late.
To anyone out there who may be going in to VCE, I have this to advise you with: Get enough sleep. Everything is easier when you are sleeping well.

Still, I love VCE. I'm not doing a single subject that I don't like, and I don't mind (most of the time) doing the work. Since my last journal, I've had a bit of a subject shake-up. I'm now doing Physics, English Language, Psychology, Photography, Maths 3/4, and Art, all of which I am much happier with. While I can get frustrated, there's nothing I outright hate.

I've also begun to draw in my own time again. I can partially blame this on getting into playing Dungeons and Dragons now, and having too much fun playing with the character builder (seriously, I have a ton of characters I'm just itching to play; my elf cleric who is looking for the ultimate healing arts, my changeling rogue who pretends to be a shifter, my kalashtar psion looking for revenge, my stormsoul genasi sorcerer and my human artificer who specialises in using a greatbow).
What's great is that I'm finally improving once more. I've started looking at the human body and its muscles, and using posemaniacs.com to try and draw different perspectives.

I still probably won't post that much other than some of my school art, but I'm starting to put more sketches in the scrapbook. If anyone wants to give me some constructive criticism, please do, I'm desperate for it :3

Also, Manifest is soon. I can't wait, I haven't seen a cosplayer in soooo long, and I am itching to buy some of the art by the local artists <3
I was going to cosplay, but it looks like it won't be done soon enough. *sigh* ah well, we can't do it every time XD

Hope everyone is safe and happy
<3 Twi

So, its been about 11 months since my last journal. Oops. Well, I hope everyone's looking forward to an amazing Christmas and New Year.

I'm finally moving up into Year 11 - the second last year of school. Its exciting and terrifying... In my ambitions of a job in physics or engineering, I need to do specialist maths, as well as physics, and i plan to finish maths methods. So I'm going to be having a full on mathematical year o_o. Otherwise, english language, photography and psychology should keep my head from exploding into numbers, both real and unreal. It will be stressful, but I'm also hoping fun.

This year has been a good one. I've become involved with a wonderful youth science organisation, and made a ton of new friends. My classes were great, my friends stuck together, and just recently I've come out of an art rut. My faith in my skills has been renewed, and I feel so much better for it.

So here's to a happy future in 2009 - may everyone stay safe and live life to the fullest.
